'My mums new boyfriend' trailer: question 1 and 2

1) At the start of the trailer the lighting is very bright as the protagonist is shown leaving home to go to college. As the narrative develops more and the 'problem' presents itself the lighting tends to be more dark as if its all happens during the night, lighting usually reflects the atmosphere and genre and so these different lightings could show the action adventure and comedy aspect.  Also things that usually happen at night are stereotypically suspicious and could represent secrecy and this could help the adventure genre. Dodgy doings that happened during late hours and the son saying at the beginning of the text that he is a 'FBI' suggest to the audience that this could be a cop and crime movie. Also the sound of sirens and cars zooming down the street could illustrate the many car chases that may happen during the movie, and car chases are a convention of action adventure films so this could be just that. The dopey music that starts off the trailer portrays to the audience that this is also a comedy, while also showing the very unconventional mother which could demonstrate a link between the two. It could imply that 'Henry's mother' would be the comedy aspect of the movie and her falling over could foreshadow that she would have more trip ups later on in the film.


2) Family is not represented to be a neutral family. At the start of the text the commentator introduces the very unconventional mother. Her homeless look and carelessness could shows she could be a problem later on in the film. The trailer probably wants to present this family as unique, funny and interesting to interest viewers and show that this is not a stereotypical idea. The son states at the start that he is a 'FBI' and his father died in jail so he doubts his father would be proud of him, this was done in a very humorous way to maybe imply that this is a comedy and that the family's problems are going to be used as jokes.
